Here are some film’s where the soundtrack is the Pepperoni on the Supreme Slice of Pizza.

Written by Rick Booth and Paul Booth

1) Good Morning Vietnam  1987  Dir. Barry Levinson
Robin Williams in his first Oscar-Nominated role as a D.J. in Vietnam during the War.
Soundtrack includes: Louis Armstrong, Martha & the Vandella’s, The Beach Boys and James Brown

2) Fast Times at Ridgemont High  1982  Dir. Amy Heckerling
We have discussed this one before, just see it!
Soundtrack Includes: Jackson Browne, The Ravyns, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Joe Walsh (to name a few)

3) Can’t Buy Me Love  1987 Dir. Steve Rash
Starring a very young Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) from Grey’s Anatomy. This is one of the best film’s to simply say “be yourself” with girls. It is a wonderful-film that has stood up for 33 years.
Soundtrack Includes: The Beatles, Billy Idol, The Beach Boys (what a variety for a Non-Union indie-film that made its mark).

4) La Bamba
Biopic of 17 year old Ritchie Valens (Ricardo Valenzuela) who contributed to world music and rock and roll by making the classic Mexicano Folk-tune La Bamba a 1950’s smash-hit.
Musician’s: Ritchie Valens, Los Lobos, Carlos Santana, Buddy Holly, Jackie Wilson

5) Forrest Gump
Best Picture my Sophomore year, this soundtrack was so popular (2-disc), everyone seemed to have it. I think we all discovered, we like our “parent’s” music. There are no words for this 25 year-old classic, other than “JENNY!”
Musician’s: The Doors, Elvis, The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Buffalo Springfield and……

6) School of Rock
Jack Black is Dewey, Dewey is a wanna-be rock star. In this Richard Linklater classic (also stars Joane Cusack), Black pretends to be a substitute teacher and realizes the kids could be his next “band.”
Musician’s: Stevie Nicks, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Patti Smith, The Doors

7) Dazed and Confused
It is the last day of High School in 1976, some are lucky to be finishing their junior year with big plans for next fall and other’s are merely Freshmen kid’s entering the wonderful world of girls, A, B, C and girls. Superb movie, I saw it 4x on the big-screen. For me, any film that opens with Aerosmith’s Sweet Emotion has my approval.
Musician’s: Dr. John, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, War, Bob Dylan

8) Almost Famous
Kate Hudson snagged an Oscar-Nod and Cameron Crowe won the Best Original-Screenplay Oscar for this incendiary rock film that traces Crowe’s own experiences and a Journalist for Rolling Stone Magazine (when he was only 15).
Musician’s: Elton John, Lynard Skynard, The Allman Brother’s Band

9) The Graduate
Sorry, just see it. The fact the film uses one band and only two song’s was unheard of and will never work again.
Musician’s Simon and Garfunkel

10) Easy Rider
This film rings more true than before and the soundtrack is one of the best in Cinema-History. I did not list it as #1, because it’s too cliche (to do so).
Musician’s The Byrds, The Band, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan

Paul Booth’s love of movies is at the core of who he is. He is a filmmaker, journalist and film historian.
