1) Wendy and Lucy Dir: Kelly Reichardt 2008 (Hulu) This is a Michelle William’s (post Brokeback) gem of a film.
2) Meadowland Dir: Reed Morano A.S.C. 2015 (Prime) Morano shot and Directed this intense film starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson. I am behind and shocked I had not heard of this “brilliant” film.
3) The Farewell Dir: Lulu Wang 2019 (Prime)
4) The Wedding Invitation Dir: Rainy Kerwin 2017 (Prime) I love Lucy, you will too. Check out this wonderful comedy that was not only directed by Kerwin, but she wrote, stars and produced.
5) The Archer Dir: Valerie Weiss 2016 (Hulu) All I can say is, I love this movie. Valerie Weiss is a very unique voice.
6) Never Goin’ Back Dir: Augustine Frizzell 2018 (Prime) This one is mentioned as an ode’ to my College Homegirl. This one is good for late-night laugh’s.
7) The Rainbow Experiment Dir: Christina Kallas 2019 (Prime) Kallas film’s are intense, so be ready for a ride!
8) Lady Bird Dir: Greta Gerwig 2017 (Prime) Gerwig was nominated for Best Director. She made Sacramento “cinematic”, that shows she has “mad” skills as a director.
9) Mudbound Dir. Dee Rees 2017 (Netflix) Historically significant, as Rachel Morrison A.S.C. was nominated for an Oscar. The film also boasts an underrated performance from Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton).
10) White Girl Dir. Elizabeth Wood 2016 (Netflix) It is always nice to find a surprise.
